

National Seminar: The theme of the Nineteenth National Seminar of 2014 was ‘Archaeology of Greater Calcutta’. By 'Greater Calcutta' Calcutta we include under the Kolkata Metropoliton Development Authority. The total area is 1886.67 sq.km. There were three academic sessions. The speakers of three sessions were: Dr Chinmay Chakrabarti, Dr Bidisha Chakraborty, Smt.
The year of 2013 was quite a busy one at the CASTEI. Two courses—‘Ancient Indian Ceramics: An Introduction’ and ‘Introduction to Prehistory’—organized by the Centre received great response from both scholars and students. Prof. D. K. Bhattacharya, formerly of the Department of Anthropology, Delhi University, held more than eighty students enthralled in his series of three-day long lecture sessions as a Visiting Fellow at the Centre.
National Seminar: The theme of FifteenthNational Seminar was ‘Prehistory of South Asia’.The theme of the seminar was chosen to commemorate a hundred and fifty year of the publication of Charles Darwin’s Origin of the Species. Eminent scholars and young researches like Prof. S.N. Rajguru, Prof. K.Paddayya, Prof. G.L. Badam, Prof. Sheila Mishra, Dr Sushama Deo, Prof. R. Dennell, Prof. M.L. K. Murty, Dr Vidula Jayaswal, Dr V. Selvakumar, Prof. J. N. Pal, Dr Shanti Pappu, Dr Parth R. Chauhan, Dr Neetu Agarwal, Dr Sukanya Sharma, Prof. Anura Manatunga, Dr Kumar Akhilesh, Dr Tia Toshi Jamir and Prof. Syed Muhammad Kamrul Ahsan participated and presented their paper.
National Seminar:The theme of the Fourteenth National Seminar (2009) was ‘Cultures of the North-East India: Ethnic and Archaeological Background’. Scholar like Dr D.R. Manjul, Dr B.T. Langstieh, Dr Saharuddin Ahmed, Dr Paromita Das, Dr Shehnaz Husne Jahan, Dr Sutapa Sinha, Dr Arup Jyoti Das, Dr Y.E. Hom Buragohain, Dr Alok Kr. Kanungo, Tsewang Dorzee, Dr Zokho Venuh, Prof. D.K. Medhi, Dr Abdullah Ashraf, Dr Sukanya Sharma, Manzil Hazarika, Dr David Tetso, Dr Tia Tosi Jamir, Dr R. Chumbeno Ngullie, Tilok Thakuria, Dr Shakuntala Mahanta, and others.
National Seminar: The theme of the Thirteenth National Seminar (2008) was ‘Use of Quantitative Methods in Indian Archaeology’. The seminar aimed to bring in focus the kind of work that is being done in India using quantitative methods. Eminent scholars like Prof. K. Paddayya, Dr P.P. Joglekar,Prof. K.Krishnan, Prof. R. Balasubramaniam, Prof. Ajoy Pratap, Prof. Prakash Sinha, Dr Sukanya Sharma, DrAmiteswar Jha, Dr Susmita Basu Majumdar and Dr Kaushik Gangopadhyay participated.
National Seminar:The theme of National Seminar 2007 was ‘Remembering Kosambi: A Centenary Tribute’.Eminent scholars like Prof. M.K. Dhavalikar, Prof. Asok Mitra, Prof. M.K. Pal, Prof. Barun De, Prof. B.D. Chattopadhyay, Dr Gaureswar Bhattacharya, Dr M.L.K. Murty, Dr R. Mahalakshmi, Dr Sanjay Chandra, Prof. Dipak Bhattacharya, Dr M.N. Rajesh, Dr Amitava Sarkar, Samira Dasgupta, Dr Bishnupriya Basak, Dr Susmita Basu Majumdar, Dr Ajay Pratap, Dr Ajay Dandekar, Dr Subhangana Atre and Jae-Eun-Shin participated in the seminar.

The theme encompassed a wide time frame from Pre-History to Colonial and presents various key issues. Scholars like Dr Bishnupriya Basak, Kanchan Mukhopadhyay, Prof. V.H. Sonawane, Prof. Peter Skilling, Prof. A.P. Jamkhedkar, Prof. K.S. Behera, DrVincent Lefevre, DrViraj Shah, DrSusmita Basu Majumdar, DrAdalbert Gail, Prof. D.R. Das, DrNarayani Gupta and others delivered lectures on various topics.
